39K Is Not Enough: Support Education Workers

Due to provincial legislation the lowest paid in the sector education workers have faced wage cuts of more than 11% over the last 10 years. The average annual salary for this group of workers is only $39,000 leaving many below the poverty line. More than half of education workers have to work at least one additional job to make ends meet. Significant wage increases are needed to keep up with current inflation. Education workers are fighting to prevent another wage cut over the term of their next collective agreement.
